Poker Hand Rankings (Highest to Lowest)

To win, you need to know which hands beat which. Here is the official ranking order:

A, K, Q, J, 10 all in the same suit (e.g. all Spades ♠). The ultimate hand!

2. Straight Flush RARE

Five cards in numerical order, all sharing the same suit (e.g. 5-6-7-8-9 of Hearts ♥).

3. Four of a Kind SUPER STRONG

Four cards of the exact same rank (e.g. four Kings: K-K-K-K).

4. Full House GREAT HAND

Three of a kind combined with a pair (e.g. 8-8-8 with Q-Q).

5. Flush STRONG

Any five cards of the same suit in any order (e.g. 5 cards all Diamonds ♦).

6. Straight SOLID

Five cards in sequential order of different suits (e.g. 4-5-6-7-8).

7. Three of a Kind GOOD

Three cards of the exact same rank (e.g. 10-10-10).

8. Two Pair COMMON

Two separate pairs of matching ranks (e.g. J-J and 4-4).

9. One Pair / High Card BASIC

One matching pair (e.g. A-A) or simply your highest single card (Ace is highest).

Gameplay Sequence

How a Poker Hand Progresses

Every hand moves through four distinct betting stages:

Round 1
Pre-Flop

Two hole cards are dealt secretly to every player. Small and Big Blinds are placed automatically, and initial bets begin.

Round 2
The Flop

The dealer flips 3 community cards face-up in the middle. Players evaluate their progress and place bets.

Round 3
The Turn

A 4th community card is revealed. Strategy deepens as players re-calculate their chances to make a winning hand.

Round 4
The River & Showdown

The 5th and final community card is revealed. Final bets are made, followed by Showdown where cards are revealed!

Player Action Controls

When it is your turn in the game, you can choose from these options depending on the current bet required:

  • FOLD: Give up your cards and forfeit this round without placing more chips.
  • CHECK: Pass the turn without betting if nobody else has placed a bet yet.
  • CALL: Match the exact chip amount bet by an opponent.
  • RAISE: Increase the bet amount, forcing opponents to put in more chips or fold!
  • ALL-IN: Push all your remaining Velo chips into the pot!
